The Stars My Destination
I have always been a passionate fan of the classic sci-fi scene, and no book lives up to that ideal for me that Bester's The Stars My Destination. I had wanted to do a piece of art about this book for a long time, and couldn't find the right outlet. I eventually sought after Paul Karasik's comics adaption course where I made this 24 page comic of the first chapter of the book.
Iroha
This piece was inspired by my research into Zen Buddhist poetry, particularity the poem "Iroha". When in the form of the book, the piece acts as a part of Buddhist simplicity and peace. Yet when opened upand unfolded, it reveals the hidden image of the Buddha of the future, a Buddha that to me spoke of Japan’s increasingly technological and overstimulating society attempting to hold onto the zen past.
